10 Second Korean: 호불호 [ hobulho ]

Easy and quick Korean expressions!

호불호 [ hobulho ]

호불호 is from the Chinese character, 호 meaning ‘favorable’ and 불 meaning ‘not’. 호불호 means ‘likes and dislikes’.

When Koreans talk about something that some people like and others do not like, they say there is 호불호. 호불호 is often used with the verb 갈리다 [ gallida ] meaning ‘to be divided’.

ex)

나는 좋아하는 음식이지만, 호불호는 있어. (I like this food, but some people may not like it.)

새로운 규칙에 호불호가 갈립니다. (Some people like new rules but others do not.)
