산전수전 [ sanjeonsujeon ]
산 means ‘a mountain’, 수 means ‘water’, and 전 means ‘a battle’. And 산전수전 means ‘different kinds of hardships in the world’.
This expression is usually used with the verb 겪다 [ gyeokda ], which means ‘to experience’ and sometimes with an adverb 이미 [ imi ] meaning ‘already’.
나 산전수전 다 겪어봤어. (I have experienced all kinds of hardships.)
그는 산전수전 다 겪은 베테랑이야. (He is an expert who has dealt with many different problems.)
