The government of the Philippines has unilaterally notified worldwide carriers that have added a new route to Boracay Island in the Philippines this year to stop flight operations.
For South Korea, Busan’s local low-cost airline, Air Busan, which has been operating nonscheduled flights between Busan and Kalibo since this April, has been affected and told to cease flights immediately.
According to Air Busan, the BX7435 flight scheduled to depart from Gimhae international airport to Kalibo airport Monday night at 10:05 pm had been canceled.
There were about 120 people reserved for the flight BX7435.
The Philippine government has notified the shutdown of all flights that have been in service since October last year as a result of restrictions on the size of the area for environmental protection limiting the number of tourists to 19,000 taking into consideration the island’s population of less than 55,000.
Over 1,000 pre-bookings had been made to Boracay through the airline.
