The city of Busan will re-examine the design of the Busan Opera House, which is scheduled to start construction in the second half of this year.

Busan City announced that it will conduct one last assessment on the Opera House to dispel concerns that have been raised regarding its design and to assure that the Opera House will become a global landmark theater symbolizing Busan, the maritime capital of Northeast Asia.

For the opera house, the Norwegian company Snohetta and Ilshin Architect’s Consortium were selected through a design competition in 2012.

The design of the opera house was finalized between 2014 and 2017, after passing several stages of expert assessments.

However, on the 17th, the opera house’s technical subcommittee, which is made up of related specialists from around the country, decided to start a full re-assessment of the design, following suggestions from some of its members.
