BUSAN, South Korea -- Australian Matt McKay has made an immediate impact for the Busan IPark since his addition to the club this spring. The 1.71m Brisbane-born midfielder joined the club from the Rangers in Scotland, a time which was disappointing to say the least.

The 29-year-old also led the Brisbane Roar to the their first ever A-League championship and premiership in the 2010-11 season, as well as capturing the Aussie Footballer of the Year last year.

Matt McKay Joins Socceroos in Denmark

BUSAN, South Korea - Busan IPark midfielder Matt McKay left South Korea yesterday for Denmark to join the Socceroos for their Saturday friendly with 10th ranked Denmark at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen.

The midfielder also suffered a broken nose this week during an FA Cup match in Korea, but insisted he will play through the injury.

McKay was inadvertently elbowed during Wednesday night's FA Cup 1-0 loss to National League club Goyang Kookmin Bank, but managed to suit up and play the full 90 minutes for Busan IPark in Monday's K League match, a 0-0 draw with Chunnam Dragons.


KBL – Moon Tae-young Moving To Ulsan Mobis Phoebus

ULSAN, South Korea - Naturalized Korean citizen Moon Tae-young, also known as Greg Stevenson, will be moving to the Ulsan Mobis Phoebus next season.

Moon played for three years with LG, after being drafted in the naturalized Korean draft three years ago. Moon, along with Jeon Tae-poong and Eric Sandrin all had to move squads this year as per league rules. Moon went from KCC to Goyang, while Sandrin moved to league runners-up Wonju Dongmu Promy.

Moon averaged 18 points and 6.3 rebounds this year for seventh place LG.

KT was ineligible for a draft signing after separating ties with guard Chris Vann two years ago.

BUSAN, South Korea - As the Lotte Giants are set to begin another season tomorrow, Lotte’s newest import pitcher, Shane Youman, brings a wealth of experience and talent to the club. A former big leaguer with the Pittsburgh Pirates, the 32-year-old Youman’s journey to Busan has had stops in Taiwan and the Dominican in the past year.

Youman is expected to make his KBO debut next Tuesday versus the LG Twins at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul. He was impressive in spring training, including four shutout innings against Hanwha, where he clocked in at 146 km/hr, while striking out five.

The Louisiana native opened up to Haps recently about his impressions of the club, his past, and what he thinks he can bring to the Giants this year.

Fan Beats Up Mascot at Incheon-Daejon K League Match

INCHEON, South Korea - A Daejon Citizen supporter attacked the Incheon United mascot yesterday at the conclusion of the match between the two clubs, which Incheon won 2-1.

The fan was not impressed by what spectators said was "waving goodbye" to the losing sides fans, and attacked. Security was quick to jump in and restrain the fan.

Fights were also reported outside the stadium according to Twitter reports of fans in attendance. An ambulance and police were also reported to be called to the scene.

Baseball – Lotte Signs American Pitcher Shane Youman

BUSAN, South Korea - The Lotte Giants have signed southpaw Shane Youman for the 2012 season, to add another starting pitcher to the roster.

Youman, 32, from New Iberia, Louisiana, compiled a 3-7 record with a 5.13 ERA in the Major Leagues. The 6' 4", 220 pound pitcher attended Louisiana State, and made his major league debut for the Pittsburgh Pirates on September 10, 2006. He was also signed previously by the Philadelphia Phillies.

He spent most of last season pitching in Taiwan and the Dominican Leagues.

According to his Wikipedia page, Youman is a classic "crafty" left-handed pitcher, with a fastball in the 84-88 MPH range and a hard slider, as well as a changeup.
