City of Busan Looks to Add A New Christmas Tree Festival This Year

The city of Busan has announced that it plans to add a third Christmas Tree festival this year.

It plans to add the third Christmas tree festival in the Seomyeon area of Busanjin-gu from November 16 to January 5 next year.

The city will reportedly invest 400 million won to install Christmas trees and sculptures in the area of Dongcheon-ro, Jeonpo-dong, and 692beon-gil, Jungjeon-daero, in Bujeon-dong.

The new festival is being established to commemorate the Korea-ASEAN summit in November.

There is concern, however, about overlapping festivals as the Gwangbok Christmas Tree Festival enters its 11th year and the Haeundae Lights Festival enters its 6th.

The annual tree festival in Nampo-dong saw 7.2 million people visit last year, a decrease from the year before.
