Edge 993 Bar, located on the top of their recently opened pension, offers a fantastic experience with stunning views of Haeundae and Mipo.
It has become a “must try place” for locals and tourists since their opening on Christmas Eve last year.
The two floor bar consists of the fifth floor and the rooftop. Once off the elevator, the lovely 5th floor interior and scenic views through the large ceiling-to-floor windows immediately draw your attention outdoors, while the comfortable seats and soft, subtle music playing in the background will capture your heart.
For me, however, the best was still yet to come. I was like a kid on Christmas for a moment as soon as I reached the rooftop. The panoramic views of the ocean, the bridge, and buildings providing the backdrop in the distance were so beautiful — and the comfortable, modern chairs and large parasols added an aesthetic feel not usually seen or felt in Busan.
While enjoying the delights of a hot coffee or a cool beer while gazing at the sunset, the exceptional views can take you away from your daily grind and the hustle and bustle of city life.
Although it is a shame that it was cloudy on the day I went back to take photos, the views were still stunning and I dare say even had a more romantic atmosphere, as nightfall brought a purplish hue to the sky against the backdrop of the Marine City lights.
The trendy bar is also very sophisticated with its decor; it was fun to check out small vintage items amongst the nooks and crannies of the staircases and hallways.
However, no matter how beautiful the interior or views are, it does always come down to if the service, the dishes and drinks are not comparable. They do have a nice selection on the menu, though it’s rather a bit light on offerings.
Menu-wise, side dishes are served from 13,000 won to 25,000 won, including a caprese salad, gorgonzola pizza, gambas al ajillo, and jamon and a variety of cheeses. Four kinds of draft beer, including 1664 Kronenbourg BLANC and Estrella Damm Barcelona are 10,000 won, while house wine is 10,000 won per glass.
If you’re looking to spend a little more, a bottle of Hendricks Gin served with three cans of tonic water will set you back 150,000 won. Bottles of wine range from 50,000 won to 400,000 won including sparkling and dessert wines which are also available. Cocktails range from 12,000 won to 15,000 won.
The service was also impeccable and catered to your every need without the pretentiousness of a high-class establishment.
They are also planning to update their side dishes soon for summer and the prices will be consistent with their current menu according to the manager.
Weather conditions on the rooftop are well-considered — they have personal-size umbrellas for hot and sunny days, and blankets and heaters for cooler days.
For those looking for something a little lighter, the first floor Edge 993 Café offers a selection of coffees, juice and some pastries which you can buy at the café and bring up to the bar though outside food is prohibited.
It usually gets busy from 3 p.m. especially on weekends. Parking is available in front of the building and free WiFi is available. Reservations are available for larger groups.
