An elderly woman on a mobility scooter fell on the tracks at Youngsandae Station on Metro line 4 Wednesday afternoon but was rescued unharmed with the help of nearby citizens.
At 3:12 p.m. yesterday, a 75-year-old woman ran into a screen door, crashed through and fell onto the metro tracks.
Shortly after the crash, nearby citizens jumped onto the tracks and rescued the woman.
The scooter remained on the track which was soon run over by the incoming train.
The rescued woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment after complaining of back pain.
Police are investigating witnesses and others around the accident.
Though Metro line 4 runs autonomous without drivers, the collision between the train and the wheelchair was not serious because the autonomous system recognized an obstacle on the tracks put on emergency brakes.
