From Mid-December, Only One Passenger Ship Will Operate Between Korea and Japan

The number of tourists going to Japan by sea has decreased significantly.

From mid-December, all passenger ships will be suspended except one vessel operated by a Japanese company traveling between Busan and Tsushima Island.

According to the Busan Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries last week, the number of international passenger ships traveling last month between Busan and 4 Japanese ports including Tsushima and Fukuoka came to about 31,400.

It is down by about 91% from the same month last year.

Since the boycott movement started in response to Japan’s export restrictions in July, 35% fewer passengers used sea transport that month, compared to the previous year and even more at about 69% less in August, 80% less in September, and 90 percent less in November.
