Itinerary for Pope’s Korean Visit in August Revealed

The Vatican has announced the official itinerary of Pope Francis’s five-day trip to South Korea. The Vatican said yesterday that the pope will arrive in South Korea on August 14 and attend a welcoming ceremony at the presidential office.

On August 15, the pope will preside over a mass to celebrate Assumption Day at the World Cup Stadium in Daejeon where families of the victims of the Sewol ferry disaster will be invited.

On the third day of the trip, the pope is scheduled to beatify Korean martyrs in a ceremony at Gwanghwamun in Seoul. On August 17, the pope will officiate a mass at the Sixth Asian Youth Day in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province.

On the last day of the trip, the pope will meet with leaders of South Korea’s seven major religions and officiate a mass at Myeongdong Cathedral in Seoul.
