Jinju Lantern Festival Reopens After Damage from Typhoon Mitag is Repaired

The 2019 Jinju Namgang Yudeung (Floating Lamps) Festival has reopened the festival from last Friday.

The festival was closed due to the 18th typhoon Mittag by Jinju City Office in South Gyeongsang province.

The city collected all floating lanterns on the river to land and removed any loose facilities ahead of the typhoon.

Since the typhoon moved northward, Jinju City reinstalled more than 70,000 lamps at Jinju Castle and the Nam River and has said that they have finished preparations to welcome all for the festival.

The event runs until the 13th of October.
