Marriage Rate in Busan Plummets 28% in Last Decade

The marriage rate in Busan decreased by 28% in the last decade.

According to the Dongnam Regional Statistics Office, the number of new marriages in Busan last year was 18,691, decreasing by 27.9 percent in 10 years.

The number of marriages in Busan has been decreasing for five consecutive years from 2013 to 2018.

International marriages accounted for 6% of all new marriages in Busan at 1,117 cases.

Vietnamese nationals accounted for the highest rate of wives, followed by Chinese and Japanese.

As for husbands, the number of US nationals was the highest, followed by Chinese and Japanese.

There were 8,124 cases of divorce last year, increasing by 2.6% compared to the previous year.
