PNU Selected for IoT Promotion and Development Project

The City of Busan has announced that Pusan National University has been selected for the ‘Internet of Things (IoT) Promotion and Development Project Contest’ supported by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency.

The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to uniquely identifiable objects and their virtual representations in an Internet-like structure.

Over the next four years, a total of 3.8 billion won will be set aside to support Pusan National University’s IoT platform development and train creative, talented individuals.

The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning has been promoting the ITRC (Information Technology Research Center) project by supporting universities’ research and development on promising IT-based core technology since 2000. The project aims to develop core technology to propel Korea’s economy and develop skilled manpower.

Through Pusan National University’s in-depth study of IoT service, the City of Busan is expected to lead the way in IoT technology.  Research on IoT platforms and energy fields will also be conducted to reduce energy consumption and enhance energy efficiency.
