President Park’s Fate Likely Decided This Afternoon

The motion to impeach president Park Geun Hye have been formally carried out by 171 lawmakers from the main opposition Democratic Party, minor opposition People’s Party and Justice Party lawmakers.

The vote could come as early as this afternoon, with the outcome of the results as early as 4 p.m. A vote must take place within three days or the measure will expire.

If the motion passes tomorrow during the National Assembly plenary session, Park’s presidential powers will be transferred to prime minister Hwang Gyo Ahn who carry out the presidential duties.

Meanwhile, the opposition parties have rejected Saenuri‘s non-mainstream lawmakers bid to get rid of 7 missing hours as one of the reasons listed in the impeachment motion.
