Prosecution Wants 5 Years Prison Time For Russian Captain Who Crashed Into Gwangan Bridge

The prosecution requested five years in prison for the Russian captain who crashed his vessel into Gwangan bridge in a drunken state in February.

The prosecution cited that the captain was drunk, attempting to flee after the accident and blaming external factors without showing remorse.

The defendant’s counsel, on the other hand, claims that the captain drank alcohol only after the accident.

It asked for the captain to be able to return to Russia as his company has already agreed to pay for all damages.

The vessel’s company agreed to pay 1.8 billion won for damages to Gwangan bridge and Yongho port.

It also struck a deal with the yacht companies and the individual who was injured from the accident.
