Reader’s Voice — The Great Escape in Haeundae

Ever wish you were inside a video game, a book, or a movie to solve mysteries yourself?

Ever wanted to experience thrilling, spine chilling, and exhilarating moments or have superpowers that could make you the hero? Now’s your chance to be a healer, time bender or another fascinating character to help yourself and your friends escape from a scenario at Breakout, Haeundae located at Crystal Beach Officetel 609, Haeundae Beach Street 291, Busan, Korea.

Escape rooms can be described as interactive adventure games during which a set of players are locked in a room and have to solve riddles using a series of clues to break out. Simply put, escape rooms are very much like computer games except that they take place in real life. Participants have to act quickly as the time to “solve the case” is limited to between 30 and 90 minutes.

It may sound like child’s play, but it actually requires logic, analysis, and alertness. You have to be sharp as the clock ticks down. Breakout, Haeundae provides the opportunity to experience a variety of fun and exciting problems. There are five escape rooms, each varying in difficulty ranging from beginner to advance.

My personal favorite is MR. OSWALD’S GREATEST SHOW. Mr. Oswald is a famous marionette of a mysterious puppeteer who keeps his identity hidden, piquing worldwide curiosity. In Mr. Oswald’s Greatest Show, the puppeteer promises to reveal his identity to a few lucky spectators only if they manage to escape. Readers who love the Caraval Trilogy by Stephanie Garber must try this when they visit Busan.

The are other exciting scenarios that are sure to thrill, such as the CHAMBER OF HOCUS (catching a magician who uses magic to cover up his crimes), PROJECT FALLOUT (preventing an apocalypse), TERRAFORM (escaping from a crashed spaceship), and MATERIA MEDICA (stealing ingredients to a miracle medicine from a mysterious physician in the hopes of recreating it. You will have the time of your life despite being trapped in a room. This is not any ordinary room, mind you, but one full of questions, answers, and mysterious clues.

Not in Busan? Don’t worry! There is another location called Breakout Hongdae, located at 102-3, Wausan-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, for you to experience the thrill of being the best detective in town. There are actually 12 locations in six countries, namely Canada, USA, South Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Saudi Arabia.

Check out Breakout Escape Rooms if you ever need a break from social media or your phone. You may have conquered your video games and all the fantasies in your head, but can you actually survive in actual physical conditions? Find out your chances of survival in the various adventures of Breakout, Haeundae.
