Subway Lines 1 and 2 in Busan Could Be Getting New Express Trains

Busan city Mayor Oh Keo-don announced earlier this week the opening of express trains on subway lines number 1 and 2, which are expected to reduce travel times between the first and last stops by at least 30 minutes.

The city will look into the feasibility of utilizing funds from its urban railway network construction plan and seek approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

Construction is expected to start as early as 2024 and operations by 2028.

The trains are expected to cost some 800 billion won, with a 60:40 support from the city and central government, respectively.
