Train Services Affected in Busan as KORAIL Labor Union Begins Strike

Train services in Busan have been hit with hurdles as the KORAIL labor union went on strike from 9 am today.

The strike is due to last until the 14th.

According to KORAIL today, the number of passenger train services based in Busan Station will likely decrease to 78.8 percent with the labor union going on strike.

High-speed trains including KTX and SRT, as well as passenger trains including ITX-Saemaul and Mugunghwa, have been reduced to 201 operations from the normal 255 runs a day.

KTX, in particular, has a 66 percent operating rate.

According to KORAIL, SRT will operate at 100 percent as per usual.

KORAIL expects that the number of ITX-Saemaul and Mugunghwa trains going to and from Busan Station will also decrease, recording a 75 to 78 percent operating rate compared to normal times.
