Visitors to Busan’s Beaches Down 4.4% This Year

Busan’s seven public beaches closed their summer operations for 2019 on Saturday.

According to the city’s data on beach visitors, a total of 36,294,000 visitors came to Busan’s beaches until August 28th, down 4.4 million people compared to last year.

The decrease is likely due to the fact that the weather was not extremely hot this year and that there were more rainy days due to two typhoons, and jellyfish incidents took place.

By beach, Haeundae had the highest number of visitors at 10,990,000 followed by Gwangalli beach at 8,350,000 and Songdo beach at 6,740,000.

The decrease is likely due to the fact that the weather was not extremely hot this year and that there were more rainy days due to two typhoons, and more jellyfish incidents taking place.

Ilgwang beach saw the biggest decline in visitors, down 32% from last year, followed by Imrang and Songdo, which were down by 27 and 20 percent respectively.
